No app. Just text.
Freshly reads your grocery photos and texts you back an expiry calendar for everything inside — bananas, lettuce, chicken, the works.
1 photo. 10 items. Expiry dates in your pocket.
Your Freshly text
Bananas — expires Jun 8
Lettuce — expires Jun 10
Chicken breast — expires Jun 7
How it works
Take a photo of your fresh food — from the bag, counter, or fridge. Snap your receipt too if you've got it.
Send the photo to your Freshly number. No app to download, no login required.
We text you back an iCal file you can add to any calendar app — Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, whatever you use.
Built different
We generate actual iCal events and send them to your phone. Add them once, get reminders before anything spoils. No checking an app. Just a text.
Works entirely over text. If you can send a photo message, you can use Freshly. Your grandmother included.
Free tier covers one session a month. Paid plan handles your full weekly grocery haul, every week.
Snap your receipt and we'll cross-reference what you bought with expiry estimates. More accurate, less guesswork.
Premium feature: we text you a reminder when it's time to use something before it expires. Dinner plans, solved.
Snap as you shop with Meta Ray-Bans or Snap Spectacles. Send one text on the way out. Calendar arrives before you get home.
Who it's for
You shop once or twice a week. You have a vague memory of buying spinach three days ago. You find it behind the cheese, turned to mulch. Freshly ends this.
You wore your Ray-Bans shopping. You snapped the fridge on the way in. One text sent. Your calendar just updated itself. That's it.
They have a phone. They text. They have no idea what an app is. Freshly meets them where they are — in their existing text messages — and turns a photo into something useful.
What we believe
Not because they're careless. Because expiration dates are confusing, calendars are disconnected, and the fridge is a black hole. We built Freshly because someone ought to fix this.
The USDA estimates 30% of the food supply is lost or wasted at the consumer level. Date labels are a big part of why. We can't fix the whole system — but we can give you a fighting chance at using what you buy.
of all food in the US is wasted — most of it at the consumer level, most of it still edible
